Discover content ideas to boost your coffee shop’s social media and build a loyal, engaged community.
For Shukery Coffee, the coffee shop I work at on the weekends, I was involved in the preparations even before it opened. Therefore, we had the time to brainstorm some ideas, and create social media accounts (in our case, Instagram and TikTok) in order to promote the shop. Here are some content ideas you can use for your coffee shop, to help you connect with your audience and build yourself a strong community.
BEHIND THE SCENES
We observed that a brand that displays the human side of their business is always well-liked by the community. For a coffee shop, show your failed latte arts, your failed pastries or even when recording short videos: it will always appeal to people. You can also show how the idea of a coffee shop was thought, the work that had to be done to the premises… it will inspire other entrepreneurs like you!
LIMITED OFFERS
Everybody loves a good discount! You can launch opening offers in order to get more visibility. For instance, as we opened in February, Valentine’s Day was just around the corner. Therefore, we did a 1+1 offer. There are a lot of celebrations that you can take advantage of, such as Christmas, Father’s/Mother’s Day, and even Patrick’s Day! Promote them on social media using “trending” sounds and “trending” video formats, in order to have a chance to go viral and attract many people to your shop.
USER-GENERATED CONTENT
While we didn’t actively do collaborations with food influencers, some people still came to the coffee shop and generated content for us. Some were the owner’s friends, and some simply discovered the location while passing by and through our Instagram. In my opinion, the fact that the coffee shop is located in a busy location surely helped. We also reposted Instagram stories that tagged the coffee shop account: this helped in making our community feel seen and appreciated, which turns the customers into brand advocates.
There is obviously a lot more content that you can create to advocate for your shop. However, these are the main topics that I recommend you to tackle, as according to my experience, these are the topics that work the best.
